Concrete done right.

Concrete Sealers

With the growth in decorative concrete for the private homeowner, most homeowners rely on their contractor for the beautiful finish that decorative concrete gives your patio, walkway or sidewalk. What some homeowners don’t realize, however, is that to protect your investment, you may need to reseal the concrete on a regular basis to keep it looking great.

Centre Concrete Northeast carries concrete sealers to make it easy for you to get started. Not sure how to seal concrete?

Follow these simple tips!

Sealing Tips

  • Select your sealer. It is important to know what sealer was initially placed on your concrete. Check with your contractor, and then choose your new sealer appropriately. For example, you would want to check if the sealer was water based or acetone based. Next, consider the finish you want – either matte or glossy.
  • Choose the right conditions. Ideal conditions are dry sunny day with temperatures between 60 to 75 degrees F. Wrong weather conditions can cause a clear sealer to turn cloudy, for example.
  • Prepare the surface. Wash thoroughly with a pressure washer. Use a broom with a mild cleaner if necessary to remove stubborn algae, moss or stains. Allow the surface to dry thoroughly.
  • Apply the sealer. Two thin coats rather than 1 thick coat. Either a sprayer or roller will give you the coverage and protection you are looking for.
